Budhaditya Chattopadhyay is a Sound Designer/Engineer from India, having a background in Electrical Engineering. An archivist of environmental sound/ambience/music, he works with phonography, field recording, soundscape design, installation and composition based on digital manipulation of field recordings from ambient sound-space; he is also involved with restoration, digital archiving and preservation of sound by high-definition transfer, critical noise reduction, sound quality engineering and re-mastering.
Recently completed independent fellowship programme with SARAI, Centre for Studies in Developing Societies, ‘Restoring the sound of Bishnupur Gharana, a lost music style’ www.sarai.net
Currently involved with a city-soundscape project, representing cities through their quintessential soundscape and a mixed media installation. Also busy with audio restoration and digital archiving of a number of renowned private archives of classical music.
