 Kurt Deggeller is Director of Memoriav, the Association for the preservation of the audiovisual heritage of Switzerland. This organization is co-ordinating and funding projects with the aim to improve preservation and accessibility of photographs, sound and video recordings and films. Amongst the founding members are the National Library and the National Archives, the national public TV and radio stations, and the national sound archive and film archive.
Kurt Deggeller’s activities in the field of audiovisual archiving began in 1984 with the mandate to build up the National Sound Archive of Switzerland in Lugano. In the same year he joined IASA (International Association of Sound and Audiovisual Archives. He was active in different Committees and from 1993 to 1996 vice-president and from 2003 to 2005 president of IASA. Since 1997 he represents IASA in UNESCO.
