BAAC members at Europeana Sounds kick-off meeting, London

Two BAAC members – Juozas Markauskas and Zane Grosa - took part in a 2 day meeting in London at the British Library, representing their organisations – Dizi (Lithuania) and the National Library of Latvia. This meeting "kicked off" a new European project "Europeana Sounds", with about 50 people representing 24 partners from across Europe.

Film archives showcase their collections: The European Film Gateway is online

After nearly three years of preparation and development, the European Film Gateway EFG http://www.europeanfilmgateway.eu is now online. The Internet portal to the digital collections of European film archives and cinema offers free access to currently about 400,000 digital videos, photos, film posters and text materials. By September, the number of digital items will increase to 600,000 from 16 film archives.

First colour footage of Estonia found in Canada

TORONTO, ONTARIO - Two historically significant films, believed to be the first ever colour footage shot in Estonia in 1939, have been discovered in Canada by documentary filmmaker Marcus Kolga.

It seems to be a human instinct all the way, since we lived in caves, to collect and organize the collections. In addition, the human race through history always seems to be eager to help the young generation to understand and predict the future, by teaching them the history of the past.
